Hi, I have a R reg (1996?) Rover 220. I only bought it about a year ago, at which time it only had one key & fob (the immobilizer thingy). Its always been a slight worry that i might loose the key, but I'm normally not the sort of person to loose stuff. However, I left my keys at work yesterday, after getting a lift in, which was really incovienient today when I couldn't get to work.

I'm sure some companies somewhere will be selling spare keys & fob sets, does anyone know who and if so, how much its likely to cost. I hadn't bothered because i figured it would be too expensive, but I'm thinking now that it might be worth it.

Cheers, James

Most likely on your car the remote does all the work and the key is just normal so you can just get another one cut anywhere.
The remotes cost about 30 and have to be coded by a diagnostic machine (probably at extra charge).
You could just go for cutting a new spare key and asking a Rover garage (there are still a few around) to look up the cars "key access" number, this allows you to de-immobilise the car using only the key. So you can use the remote you have and use the Key only technique in an emergency.
