Why before Christmas there was plenty of Chestnuts in the supermarkets, and yet now in the first days of the New Year, there is not one to be found?

One can buy almost any type of nut or fruit throughout the year, but you only see Chestnuts at Christmas, in fact I have never seen them in our local ASDA at any time.

Presumably they are seasonal - and you can buy dried chestnuts and puree all year round, mostly in health/wholefood shops
Some in Lidl this morning

taichiperson, Thanks for answering, but Strawberries etc are seasonal but you can still buy them. And dried and puree is no good if you enjoy peeling them and eating raw or roasting them.

normy Thanks for your answer, I was in Lidl this morning and did not think to look for them there, perhaps pop down tomorrow.
