Cannot access D Drive

When I try to access D Drive it says - D: not accessible - incorrect function. Can any one help?

Is this a hard drive or cd/dvd drive?

Does that happen with every dvd you try to play?

Have you tried several?

Have you checked the hardware profile? Does it say it is working normally?

In Windows XP:

My Computer - right click on dvd drive - properties - hardware
