hi there
I'm having a birthday party for my 5 year old and am plannng craft activities around the story "snow bear surprise". One of the things I want to make is an ice bear. Obviously, actual ice is out of the question, so any one have any ideas as to what I can plan for the kids to make that takes about 5 minutes to do once prepped that would resemble an ice bear?

i already have plans for icicles, glistening twigs, berries and flowers, just need to think up a quick make for ice bears.

any suggestions muchly appreciated,

many thanks
mimi

mimi - Not sure exactly what your after, but you could make little white chocholate novelties, the kind that you get to hang on the Christmas tree. The hard bit would be finding the little chocholate mould's, perhaps a specialist cook shop may sell them, you may find them online. Another idea would be to buy some bear cookie cutters, make some biscuit dough, bake the bear shape's before the day & let the kids decorate them with icing & jelly sweets ( be careful what sweets you choose ) bare in mind the age of the kid's that will be eating them!

hi, thanks skyep, i was after crafts the kids could do themselves, but you have given me an idea in as much as i might just cut out bear silhouettes and get them to cover them in glitter or cotton wool or something. |They all need to be ready quite quickly as I shall get them to use them in the retelling of the story afterwards.

thanks anyway, and you have been more help than you know.

lot of love

Everytime I see a post by you mimififi I wish you'd adopt me.....you do all those ace 'crafty' stuff that I wanted to do as a child but my mum was never speedy enough in giving up the washing up bottle :-(

ahhhh, BOO! I shall adopt you. i shall send through the paperwork and then you shall be mine!

I don't have that problem with the washing up bottle as if we need a washing up bottle, I tip the washing up liquid out into an utterly inappropriate vessel, such as several tea cups or a pint glass of a tupperware and use the bottle regardless. Then husband comes along thinks "What's all this mess" and tips the liquid away and I end you buying new stuff anyway, LOL!

life's too short not to have kitchen full of half made projects and patchwork.

:-)
mimififi...if you want ice bears, why don't you cut the bears out of clear acetate...then they could make them into window hangers.
