can any one tell me what the divorce ratio was in 1960? and if at all poss where the info has come from

There were 26,000 divorces in the UK in 1960, which amounted for every thousand of couples, 3.4 divorced that year.

In 2000, there were 155,000 divorces in the UK, and for every thousand married couples, 25 were divorced.
