I would like to buy an MP3 player to use at the gym. I don't particularly want to spend a lot of money and it doesn't need to have too much capacity. Could anybody let me know what I should be looking for in such a device?

morning
there's a range of them from 200 to20 quid
go for the cheap end they do the same job obviously the high end hold more and sound better as far as bass goes but i found my alba from argos (20) does the job for me holds about 30/40 tunes, check out maplins and currys digital also
ps i should add that mine and poss more low price ones do not let you know what's playing on the screen, ask about this if you need tune info otherwise u pick out the tunes by number or just play straight through or at random
Whichever you choose, make sure it is one with flash memory which will not be affected by the rigours of gymwork, whereas a larger capacity one based on a hard drive should not be shaken about.
This one from Ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/115282
at 19.99 will hold over 200 tunes
I'd stop looking now and just buy that one from ebuyer! 1GB for 20!!!
Completely agree to get one like this (flash memory) rather than an old iPod with a hard drive. iPod Nano's have flash memory but you'll not get one of those for 20, haha.

I've a similar one to that ebyuer one but it doesn't hold anywhere near as many songs - I'd recommend it.
Do you have a half decent mobile phone? If so, most modern mobiles are able to store and play MP3 files, so you could use that instead. I have a Nokia 6230i which I use as an MP3 player while walking the dog.

Thanks for your help. The reviews are scaring me a bit, though. I'm not sure that I'll be able to work one of these things without an instruction manual! Might give it a go, though.
