I can't install Norton Antivirus 2004!!

It's driving me mad, I don't understand the answers given on the SYmantec site, or other forums so I am turning to trusty Answerbank for help! I successfully bought, and downloaded Norton Antivirus 2004 (pro edition) I go to install and it comes up with [ERROR: The system cannot open the device or file specified] Now there is a solution given for this exact error by Symantec, 'This error can be caused if the Windows Temp folder is encrypted'....well it's not, I even worked round the temp folder and it STILL didn't work! I can't get free online help with symantec, as to get it, it scans your system for what products are installed and as I can't Install this product I can't get help for it...... Please can anyone help? Or at the very least give me a Good forum. PS: My B/F works for an IT company, who trouble shoot and even they are stumped!

If you go thru the entire online help there is a contact email address, but don't hold your breath waiting for a reply. I had to reinstall windows so lost my subscription, and although they acknowledged the problem they just refered me to their phone support (for which they charge). I have now been without Norton for over a month. While I have been waiting I have installed a free virus checker (AVG) which works fine.

I know exactly what you're goin through. These companies that don't respond need to have further action taken. I ceo'd a company that "did" answer customer complaints and we still got shut down. Our company was frozen by competitive complainants. If you feel you were done an injustice, then by all means just complain to the right people. Even if you were lying it would be enough to wipe the company out if you wanted it to. Pretty negative sounding i guess, ooops sorry. Contact your local Better Business Bureau. They can make all kinds of things happen. Take me for instance.
Good luck. I tired 4 times with no success. I finally took the program back to the store and got my money back!
Hope you've got it sorted by now but, in case not, try next time buying and installing Norton protection with a CD. It will probably mean uninstalling what you have, re-booting the PC and then installing the new.
