The latin word is forfex - meaning a pair of scissors or pincers

Correction to kettledrum: forficulida is the Latin DIMINUTIVE of forfex which is the Latin word for scissors.

Quizmonkey, I've just got out my very ancient latin dictionary and it appears that the diminutive of forfex is forficula. Would you agree?
