are we as a nation scared of our teenagers as declared on tv today. all those of you that are around the forty to fifty mark know the answer. give them a fu**ing good slap before it all gets out of hand. but no, we cant do that anymore can we, because of all the softy do goody brigade and political correctness, if we dare to stand up to these mindless ars*hol*s its us that ends up in the sh*t. ive had it before when a gang of around 14 youths were creating hell on our estate. i was the only one that went out to them while all the other residents peered out of there windows. i poked the biggest of them in the guts with a sledge hammer handle, and told them to fcuk off. 20 minutes later ive got the old bill on my door wanting to take me in. luckily the coppers knew the crack and done no more about it. what the hell is this country coming to?

I'm very lucky I live in an area that has very little trouble. Having said that we now have two youth workers and two community safety officers as well as the police and between them they can identify every little oik in the area. 5 of them put grafitti all over the kids play area recently but by midday their 'tag' had been identified they'd been hauled out of school and made to clean it off, another group where taken to court and their parents fined 6000. We don't get grafitti anymore!! Similarly following several cases of arson on the forest the offenders had to spend a week with the fire brigade who worked them really hard and at the end of the week each kid was assigned a buddy who keeps in contact with them. One horror who hadn't been in school for over 18 months is now attending school everyday because he wants to train to be a fireman.
Sadly there are loads of really great teenagers out there and they are getting tarred with the same brush - a lot of them might hang round on street corners but often they are not doing anything, they just want to hang with their mates.
Just re read that - makes me sound a bit do goody, actually I'm not at all. I also realise I'm lucky I don't live in a city.
Bravo wizzard!! Encore,Encore.
wizzer even!
Course you dont sound like a "Do Gooder" Hellion. I live in a city but luckily we dont have as much bother as some of the other estates. Saying that though the language from the teens and younger ones coming out of school is rife!
Lets get ahold of ourselves here, this is just a stereotypical few. That, fair enough probably do need a good slapping.
But I'm just about to turn 16, and people I know and even people on here tell me that I'm a lovely young woman, and very mature.
I have never smoked, swore outside of where I feel it is appropriate. And would never spend my nights standing on the streets like a chav! I always respect my elders, and all the un-stereo typical things that people seem to blame teens for.

I feel that this is a bit unfair towards myself and people like myself.

Thanks
Aww honey, we know it's only certain ones and aren't trying to tar you all with the same brush.

I, and I'm sure many of the others on here know some fantastic young people especially the parents on here.

Wizzer you're a genius - if only Tony Blair could read your post - this country would be half back to being decent again.

Silversky - dont take it personally - you are not one of the many teens who cause trouble day after day and your parents have obviously done a good job with you. Unfortunately, there are many kids who's parents just dont give a damn and the whole of society is suffering because of it.
We've always had "yoof" culture ,remember the teddy boys and the mods and rockers?I think the few make it bad for the many decent young people .You only hear about the bad things ,whipped up by the media, never the decent things youngsters do .You can't tar them all with same brush .
Parents, especially mothers are forced out to work by an ever increasing tax and bill burden and it's no wonder kids go astray. The government concrete over playing fields and sport and extra curricular activities are way down on the list as they only want to see statistics and high achievers. There is nothing for the middle of the road youngster and no future .No wonder they are disillusioned and feel hopeless and turn to this gang culture. They should invest more money and resources into this problem .The youth of today are this countrys future and something positive should be done to stop the rot .Women should be rewarded for staying at home to bring up their children and not treated like second class citizens because they are not filling the chancellors coffers. Those who wish to work should be afforded better facilities for child care .We all have a responsibilty to our children and it's sad to see such a breakdown in society.
Well, I think that it should become compulsory for teens as well as prisoners to spend 2 years or so in the armed forces ro teach them discipline.... it would also solve the jail space problems. Obviously not the rapists and paedophiles and/or murderers but say, serial burglars, yobs, bullies and theives.

Does anyone know whay they DID stop National Service?
