ringing in ears

I went clubbing last night, and as most people do I got ringing in my ears. However, its the morning now and I've had a sleep but the ringing is still there, without getting less intense. Has anyone else had this problem?
On google I found this was tinnitus, which some people have the rest of their lives. Being a hypochondriac I started to think I might have it forever. Could I be right or has many other people experienced this?

yes when i first went clubbing and gigging i could have that ringing in my ears for a couple of days at its worst - the bad news is i don't get that anymore not even a little bit - as the clubs etc made me a little bit deaf.
the ringing is caused by the damage you have done to your ears, try to move away from the speakers a bit more next time - or better still don't stand directly in front of them (round a corner is best) so that the sound is not going straight to you
I've sometimes had ringing in my ears the next morning but it always goes by the second day for me.
but watch out. I used to wear headphones all the time to listen to my music at work. Now I have tinnitus, the ringing just never stops and is quiet annoying.
