Yes.
Any relationship can last if the two of you are COMMITED enough, Obviously the physical side of things might be a problem in this type of relationship, but it can also be more benificial as when you see each other, the time you spend together would be quality time so to speak.

Yes it can, my husband was in the army for 22yrs and that is a long distance relationship, as he was away on exercises, and op tours for months on end, we're obvisouly still together and loving every minute.

Maintaining a long distance relationship has without a doubt been the most difficult thing I've ever done! I would not recomend it to anyone. Obviously, some people have had successful long distance relationships, and I think it depends on where you are in your relationship. If you are both in a rewarding carreer and happy, then it would probably be easier.
