Was never a huge fan, but she was a proper pop princess. Sad that cancer seemed so determined to get her. After beating it twice, a person deserves a break from it.

RIP.
She was certainly a fighter. So sad. RIP Olivia
Bobbi, my sentiments exactly. She did have it all. A beautiful, beautiful lady. It’s not often the passing of a celebrity has a profound effect on me but I confess that tonight when watching the BBC news I shed a tear.

Gromit, you’re a miserable old git.
Not exactly what I would've called him Naomi, but I agree with the sentiment. She hadn't done "anything noteworthy" for the last couple of decades because she's been in a state of beating and recovering from previous cancer diagnoses. No need to be so disrespectful, if you have nothing nice to say, as the saying goes.
RIP - for those that say she has not done anything noteworthy for decades- are you aware until about 6 years ago she had a long running Vegas show?
I hadnt realised....

Newton-John was the daughter of German literature professor Brin Newton-John and Irene Born, whose father was Nobel Prize-winning physicist Max Born.

that Max Born had such a good voice
// After beating it twice, a person deserves a break from it.//

cancer doesnt work like that unfortunately. relapse is a red flag
Just heard this on local radio and then saw Bobbs thread. RIP Olivia, I loved her in Grease. She was a stunner and had it all. Sad news this morning.
RIP Olivia

I think she was my first girly crush. I went to the cinema to see Grease when it came out. Must've been about 7 or 8 and thinking how beautiful Sandy was.

Gromit, she did what she could given she had reoccurring cancer since the early 90s. And she did so much charity work.
Such a shame she fought so hard. RIP
RIP, Olivia Newton-John.
I was an ardent fan of the wonderful Olivia years before Grease (and still prefer her pre-Grease productions).

RIP Olivia.
I always liked her song please mr please

and of course hopelessly devoted and summer nights from greace!

Oh my God, I’ve just back in the UK, so I’ve only just heard this news.

She was my first crush from when I first saw Grease as an 8 year old in 79.

Utterly beautiful, absolutely the perfect looking woman, and a completely pure voice.

Gutted.
The only woman that has come close to OLJ in my opinion is Barbara Streisand, who was also utterly beautiful with a stunning voice.
I also liked Judith Durham's voice - she died a few days earlier, don't know if you heard.
Mediocre singer/actress dies shock.
Blimey Paignotian, you’re an incredibly sad, pathetic and worthless husk of a human being aren’t you.
It is not unusual when someone dies that the plaudits tend to be a bit overblown. We had the same situation on AB when TheLand died - suddenly, the man was a saint, and all of the racist bigotry conveniently swept under the carpet.

OLJ had a decent voice, but couldn't act for toffee. And the comment that she hadn't done anything since the late 80s was well made.

And the "comparison" with Judith Durham is plain ridiculous! She couldn't hold a candle to Judith Durham.
