I'm currently in the process of exchanging council houses in a mutual swap, can anybody tell me how long the process is likely to take, from initially applying to actually being able to move into the property.

Thanks

My Friend did this and from saying she wanted to move to actually moving I seem to remember it being just over a Month.

I don't know whether this is Standard though so maybe ask your Council??

We have currently been in the exchange process for approximately 2 and a half months, i was told initially it would take 4 to 5 weeks.
my children's education is really suffering as my eldest is being taught at home till we move, my youngest son starts his new school on monday (2hrs bus ride) and my daughter starts a week on monday, so as you can imagine it is both tiring and extremely stressful.
I would be grateful for any suggestions to help speed the process up, or who to complain to without causing even more delays.

Thanks again

I've just done it and really it depends on the housing depts concerned.. If they shift themselves and don't ignore the paperwork ...it doesn't take any time at all..once you have both signed papers .... no time

This seems to be the problem, trying to get the council to the point we can sign, hopefully will be signing this week then moving on saturday, but seems to have been so many delays so far it is unbelievable.
