Nope. Read the last few words of my post. I-t'-s t-h-e w-a-y i-t i-s. The way it is. The Emperors' New Clothes strikes again!
Update your wardrobe,
You obviously didn’t watch the final.

Ella Toone‘s goal was as good as anything in the Prem.

It has been a great tournament for England who were worthy winners.

Not sure why the men on this site are queuing up to denigrate the success of the womens’ team.

Fact is, England’s women are the best in Europe, and
England’s men haven’t won anything for 56 years.

Perhaps you’d be better speculating why the men are so unsuccessful?
Just another misogynist, embarrassing enough, there seems to be many here.
Is that at hoovering or doing the dishes?
Did anyone see a scissors/bicycle kick in this tournament? I didn't. A step over? A double drag back, ie, drag the ball back with one foot, then further back with t'other? The ridiculous statement that it's the first major football win for 56 years is pathetic. It's the first womens major win. It's women, folks. Comparing it to the mens' record is pointless and futile. And exaggeration on an epic scale.
Why are some saddos determined to diminish the team's achievement?!
I'm not dimishing the acheivement. It's great for them. Fantastic. I'm just putting it into perspective and not getting carried away with ridiculous and exaggerated comments.
10CS
I saw a brilliant back heel kick that nutmegged the keeper, and a one-on-one resulting in a inch perfect chip over the keeper to score. Very skilful and expertly done.

A fortunate back heel, as the player has admitted. But they all count. Still none of the other things.

I attended a womens football match in 2009. It was the Womens League Cup Final between Everton and Leeds United at Spotland, Rochdale. My granddaughter was the mascot for Leeds United. It was a freezing February night. But she loved it. As much as any youngsters love being involved, if they can.
Knock knock.

Who's there

Football, it's come home.

WELL DONE LADIES

There are a few on this site with misogynistic views sadly.

I don't like football at all but fantastic result last night. Congratulations to the Lionesses :o)
I can think of one outstanding handicap for thirteen year old boys to cope with, trying to run on the field when surrounded by scantily-clad athletic women and the results following exposure of a sports bra need little imagination.
I didn't see any reverse 1½ somersaults with 4½ twists either, Clarion - standard for men's football.
//A fortunate back heel, as the player has admitted. But they all count.//

If a male player had done it in the semi-final of a major tournament, you'd be campaigning for a statue for them. This whole thread is a case of "I'm not sexist but..."
The skill level of the womens game is very far off the mens currently but that’s to be expected given the difference in money in the game and all that that enables. They will never be equals due to physique, same as tennis or golf but I do think that with more investment the skill level could be upped to being able to beat national league sides, probably by playing a possession game - hard to score if you don’t have the ball!

The womens game seems a lot more positive, maybe because gambles tend to come off more? Although less skill and obviously less power the pass accuracy and movement off the ball is intelligent and the passion for the game can’t be faulted. It’s a different sport but I enjoyed the semi-final and the final the only games I watched, decent games of football I’ve seen a lot worse mens games.
Is Ken running a book on which of the boys wins the 'No I'M The Biggest Feminist' badge and sticker set?
Fair point Doug and there certainly is a bit of that about, but there's a lot of people that just enjoy watching a good game of football, and that can be an under 8s cup final, or a Sunday league derby.. Where expectations on skill levels are adjusted appropriately and replaced with delivery of passion, a bit of excitement and some decent football every now and then - and that final delivered... Posts like this OP seem to be insinuating that the enjoyment of the spectators should be tempered due to the low standard of the teams compared to the mens game and that misses the point of why people enjoyed it.
:o) I just love this website! :o)
