Does anyone understand them please?

Google Maps gives the coordinates of a hotel as, 50. 96212, 1.83490

But when I enter them into my satnav it changes them to N 50° 26.962' E 001° 50.834'

Why does it do that, and is it correct?

I can't put the street address in because its maps can't find them

Etch; My Garmin is a nüvi 250 & I think it predates yours by a few years. It doesn't have 'Units & Time' it just has 'Time' there. :0(
The Google maps is set to display decimal degrees but your satnav is set to decimal minutes.

It should be possible to change the settings on Google maps to match those on your satnav but I've not been able to find out how.

In the meantime, you can convert one to the other by going to a site such as this,

https://www.pgc.umn.edu/apps/convert/

where you input the figures from Google maps and it converts it to degrees and decimal minutes.

Your satnav goes only to three decimal points so input only the first three decimal point from the result.

Check the result on your satnav to see how close that gets you to the actual location.

Thanks Corby, I've just done that and for example
50.96212 (from Google Maps) becomes, 50° 57.7272 so are you saying I drop the last '2'
The other one is 1.83490 (G.Maps) becomes, 1° 50.094 which goes in as is?
Khandro - When you are on the screen where you enter coordinates, is there a 'settings' icon top left (triple bar or spanner symbol)? If so then that may give the options for changing the coordinate format.
This is how 'Enter Coordinates' looks on mine:

If I click the spanner I get this:

And if I click 'Coordinate Format' I get this:

If you round up or down the fourth decimal figure (1-4 round down, 5-9 round up) see what difference that makes to where it shows on your satnav or Google maps.

As your satnav takes only three decimal figures, it ignores anything following that but yes, just enter the figures from the conversion site and check the outcome on Google or your satnav.
Khandro - Does this video help (from about 1:00 to 1:30)? If the coordinate format can be changed on something as basic as the 200 then there must be a way of changing it on the 250:

Etch Cheers! that did it, I found a choice of three possibilities & I've reset it to, h ddd.ddddd°

That's obviously why I got that weird reading, with a bit of luck I won't now get lost in Calais.

Thanks also to Corby for your perseverance.
Jeez, can't you just drive to Calais and head out on the N216, take the A16 and then the D904 which seems to take you straight there?
I'm glad you have found how to change the format, Khandro - I was pretty certain the option would be (hidden) there somewhere!

Perhaps if we all ignore Zacs Master he will go away?

Etch, I've had this Garmin for many years & could never figure out how to enter coordinates, now I know what was wrong. AB at its best!
