Don't think about it that much. Sad when part of one's territory opts to break away, I suppose, but their loss as they now have to be Americans when they could have been British, had they played their cards right. I suspect had the French not been so keen to hit out at the British by helping the colonists out the result may have been different, but it's all past history now.

Meanwhile what do Americans think of the English civil war ?
Thank goodness we didn't give British nationality to the americans like we now dish out to anyone.
It was a great mistake on the part of our American cousins.
We would have been a civilising on them if they'd stayed with us.
