Anyone else think this young woman's reaction is a little OTT; He is simply - and very politely - asking her out on a date and my guess is, were he a drop dead gorgeous hunk, her response may have been different?

not all taxi drivers are rapists - some are murderers!

And some are just taxi drivers!
getting an address from the office files and telling her he'd been thinking about her for three months ... nah, sounds creepy to me. (For all you know he may be a hunk.)
It's the tracking her on Facebook and the time lag that makes it creepy. He might be a good looking hunk, there's no photo of him

Jno, all she had to do was to reply declining his offer, as politely as it had been made, pointing out she isn't interested in him. Instead of making a song and dance about it and wanting him to lose his livelihood for a few months or so.
We had a guy in our class at boys grammar school who was decidedly more advanced than the rest of us physically & probably emotionally. He used to trade catalogue goods to some of the (few) female teachers. I don't think he would have been damaged by a teacher/pupil relationship.
Wrong thread, dave?
probly - thx
Hah...Back in the old days, getting her address from the office files would have been called initiative and thinking about her for three months would have been termed laying it on a bit thick:)
Ken, I think it's a bit like a cop propositioning someone he's interviewed: he literally "knows where she lives". As Barry says, the time lag would also make her uneasy. Maybe not so much if it had been the day after?
Posting yourself on Facebook is putting yourself in the public domain. You are showing yourself to the world, along with lots of personal info and images. I can understand her finding it creepy. If this was a one-off incident with the driver, then I don't think it's bad enough to possibly lose his job.

There may have been a perfectly good reason for the time lapse. He may have been in a relationship at the time? I just think she didn't need to make such a fuss, threatening the guys livelihood.
from her perspective it would pretty much amount to stalking - she rode in his cab three months ago, now he's getting in touch saying he's been thinking of her all the time.
Question Author
Stalking? More like the beginning of a rom-com:-))
Jno - then she should politely say she is not interested

If he then persists then she may have a case, but not for what he has done so far. She is well O.T.T.

She wants attention - this article proves it, but when people do give her attention, she doesn't like it!

My sympathy goes to the taxi driver!
His action was very unwise/naive but his message wasn't all that threatening (if at all) and he did acknowledge its oddity.

A simple "no" reply and a warning about how inappropriate such an approach was would have possibly been enough.

On the other hand he could have been a perv on the hunt, so she was justified on that account. A difficult one to judge.
// We had a guy in our class at boys grammar ......would have been damaged by a teacher/pupil relationship.//

boys' grammar school - ( collegium puerorum in latin) apostophe needed.

wrong thread asks one bewildered and confused ABer - no I dont think so, Davebro makes a lot more sense in this than his usual....

and no one as we wonder about well endowed precocious boys and enterpreneurs in our class 60 y ago, has spotted there is a data protection offence here

she (the passenger) gave her address only for er pick up reasons and not so the love lorn taxi driver cd er try to pick her up three months later. Misuse of data - not properly processed, and kept too long (+)

you know what i mean - no one reads this anyway.

He cd say: I fell in love with you when I first saw you in that film 1940 (*) - dirty boy!

(*) Mrs Miniver, Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon.

(+) sozza babies - not really AB stuff, data protection. Back to that seller of undies and knick-knacks: much more AB level
