...on the rates bill. It's been backdated to 2017. This means the rates office owe me over 1 thousand quid. I wonder will they send it to me or deduct it from future bills?

Burley as Sandy - phone up - but don't you live in England and you pay council tax - we pay rates. I think you need to be 72 and living alone in England or somebody on here told me but God loves a trier - phone up
Where I live (East Riding of Yorkshire) you can get a 25% single person discount on your council tax if you're over 18 and live on your own (obviously, lol).
