Isn't the issue in Australia to do with flooding which has increased costs to salads and veg?
And drought in many areas RH, lack of grazing for cattle and sheep. Some areas not having rain for 2 years, the worst its ever been.
They have it SO bad, that KFC is using cabbage instead of lettuce.
When I worked in a supermarket, people did that all the time. I quite like a bit of stalk in a stir fry but prefer cauliflower to broccoli anyway.
The stalk is lovely peeled and boiled then roasted or sauted or pureed in soup

Yes, I've heard about the environmental factors affecting veg and fruit production.
I hate the stem...I'll donate it to anyone who wants it.
main thing i noticed food prices is tesco beans used to be 4 for 1 pound and now its 4 for 1 25 or something

Jura, my daughter and her partner lived in Melbourne for a year, and that's one thing she was shocked about. That was 10 years ago.
