Guardian prizethere are special instructions which are very confusing. any ideas?

Yes the same clue can give two different answers

eg 11a and 23a are both mathematical terms and are both anagrams of "also might + R(eading). You just have to decide where you put each one, depending on the down clues

10a and 24a are both birds hidden in the clue, again you have to decide which one goes where
