Onion Growing

I planted a lot of onion sets about 6 weeks ago. They're growing a lot of leaf but the bulb doesn't seem to be growing at all. Is this normal?

Don't worry, mine are the same, they will soon fill out! I've got 'red baron' onions and they are not usually ready until after September.

The old wives tale says that you should plant onion sets on Christmas Eve and harvest them on Midsummers Day so, plenty of time yet :-)
