Haven't bought these in a long time but did so yesterday - was looking at directions on how to cook them when I noticed that the fish was Alaska Pollock - yet I remember buying them before and it always said 100% cod. Is Pollock ok.

It didn’t occur to me until I went in a pub and ordered ‘fish & chips’ from their menu. I check now.
Pollock, if cooked properly is delicious. Paul Ainsworth's pub in Rock has a dish called the 'Dog's Pollocks'....
Only if you like it, DTC. It's just not to my taste
birdseye have sold non cod fish fingers for years.
When I order fish and chips I always specify halibut.
I read somewhere that cod levels are in decline now due to overfishing. Something like that anyway.
as a fish or as fingers, Barry.....my suspicion is that you have never tried Pollock properly cooked as may, most, restaurants really don't know how to cook and properly rest fish before serving.....

And what about Haddock, Monkfish, or Sole - the latter in its different forms like Dover, Lemon or Meghram.....delicious that they all are....?

(That article specifically refers to the North Sea but cod stocks in the Atlantic collapsed dramatically in the early 1990s and still haven't recovered).

Fish, and cod in particular, is now becoming a luxury food.
and there are some delicious fish alternatives and it doesn't take a culinary genius to prepare and cook most of them either....
Jennyjoan seems to be able to buy fish and chips far cheaper than most of can!

DTC, I eat a lot of wet fish that I cook myself, usually three times a week. I don't eat any processed fish such as fish fingers
I do know how to prepare and cook all types of fish
Glad to hear that, as fish, at large, offers so much taste and diversity....in cooking that is.....any unusual recipes that you want to share?

I prefer pollock to cod, I find it a lot lighter. You'll find, on some fish items the contents sa "white fish" only, there's a lot of fish items with Basa, catfish etc....that are really nice & tasty
I’m with jack. I like pollock.
