Something rather strange happened on Sunday with one of my Alexas.
Son and I were sat eating in the kitchen when we heard voices. I got up and walked down the hall to see where it was coming from, in the lounge the Alexa was playing C&W music.
Can anyone think why it would have done this?

maybe it felt like a lonesome cowgirl
Where is the device located?
In the kitchen at home, on the range?

Lol
It's in the lounge, as far away from the kitchen (where we were) as you can get in here.
You weren't, perchance, talking about political commentators and one of you exclaimed, "That **** Bob Peston!"
Okay, were you discussing the dear Andy Antelope plays then?
You weren't overheard talking about a loose seal were you?..
The Alexa app on your phone has a voice activity tab which will tell you (or should) what triggered that
More fool you for having a device that listens continually.
I agree with you Young, I would never have a permanent listening device in my house.
"I would never have a permanent listening device in my house."

Oddly enough that's my role in life when the gaffer holds forth.
I wouldn’t have an Alexa either. I would hate that. Too intrusive.
if you go to the house of a friend who's got Alexa listening, just say

"Alexa, set 3AM alarm with horror movie sounds"......
Don't people realise the sinister use this could be used for in future years as everything is linked into a massive computer system and anything you may have said could come back to haunt you. I bet Ukrainians and Russians are wary of them or certainly will become so.
Had your son just called you a country.
Do you know what.....we've had an Alexa for about a year now. The roof hasn't fallen in, we don't get pestered about anything (other than the normal stuff), I've not had any financial issues or anything!

(I wonder what people think will happen.....these are the same people who probably have Siri or similar switched on, on their phones!)
what i find odd is that people who dont have/dont want an alexa feel the need to tell everyone. I liken them to vegans. How "i wont have one in the house" helps answer the q i don't know!
mine is good at picking up a way away, perhaps it misinterpreted something you said. However, as said, the app will tell you

Thanks all.
I live alone so I doubt it will hear anything dodgy, but I find it really helpful for setting reminders, alarms and so forth. Ilike the finction of being able to listen to the radio too, actually better reception than my 'proper' radio.
I'll stick with her, but thanks for comments :)
I have Alexa too and find it great company plays music I want to hear.
