Absolutely tragic news. I am a huge fan of Top Gear, its my favourite programme. I really hope the Hampster pulls through this ok, the show just wouldn't be the same without him. I wish him and his family my best wishes.

This question was meant for nice messages to a lovely man. How about we finish all the its his own fault rubbish. It is no different to any other horrible accident that can happen in any kind of job. At the moment Im just wishing he gets well soon and has no long term implications.
4getmenot - hope you didn't misunderstand my post...I was having a go at HH for exactly that "own fault" attitude, not having a go at the Hamster....

Oh I know kick I was just wanting to end the whole arguments between everyone and get back to wishing him well :-) My mates dad was killed in his job as a policeman but no-one goes up to her and says he shouldnt have been doing it because he had family. Everything is a danger nowadays.
you're so right. Still can't stop agreeing with you today!! You used it to your advantage yet?? tc xx
Hands up, you got me :-)
it's such a shame that even with such a terrible situation as this that people on here still can't stop causing arguments and b1tching! The guy very nearly died and has a serious injury. Nobody in their right mind would day that was ever deserved.

Richard Hammond IS a great TV personality and by the sounds of it a great bloke and I wish him, his wife and his children all the best and hope for as good a recovery as possible.
*say not *day!!!!
here here clairey :-) I think it will all stop now.
Its not speed that kills, just the sudden stop at the end... Get well soon Richard!
