I enjoyed a drink in my local pub last night and had to pay as usual with my bank card. Have most or all pubs and hotels gone cashless?.

not the ones i frequent in leicestershire . . .
I went out for lunch yesterday and as we entered the restaurant, we were told that payment was by card only.
I wonder how the US is getting on. Everyone there expects a hefty tip. Not easy to give when you have no cash.
I don't know of any that are cashless, it'd be madness for them.

None I have been in are cashless. If they were I would have to leave as I only use cash in a pub ( I learnt this after the golden days of Champaign bars in the early 90's with gold Amex over the bar)
I was in the bar one lunch time when about a dozen work colleagues came in to do their usual trick of each buying their own drink and tying up the bar person for ages. Sadly their card machine wasn't working and they had no dosh between them! That's why I always use the old fashioned bangers and mash in bars etc. Also YMB has a point you tend to spend more when you don't see it going.
I have never been in a cashless pub.
It's not a good idea. While in your cups you might buy drinks for all and sundry using your cards.
