I had intended to put a horse named Life On The Rocks in a Patent i placed yesterday. The horse is trained by Richard Fahey - who just happens to train quite a few of Dr Marwan Koukash's horses. Only had the one winner in the bet, I'm A Gambler @ 15/2 and should have had an extra £3.40 in my account. Checked my bet and saw that i had mistakenly backed Heart Of Soul - one of Koukash's horse but trained by Ian Williams - which won@ 7/1. Result, an extra £33.80 in my account :-))

I have a few times given the wrong horse number in an on course Tote bet and benefited.

ken i am fascinated. On say a monthly basis, do you win more than you lose? what about a yearly basis? you seem (from what you write on here) to bet so much. Is it about the winning, or just about the betting itself?

Yes......the stand off half, kicked to my wing and the opposing winger, dropped the ball, I picked it up at speed , stepped inside the full back and scored.

Yes my one & only win on the lottery was due to my rubbing out the wrong number. Only won £64 and have never won again!

bednobs, to answer your question; as i no longer frequent pubs and clubs, i no longer attend football matches, gigs, etc, gambling is just about the only hobby i have left. And it is just that, a hobby. Obviously any win, large or small, enables me to carry on enjoying my hobby.
Don't know if you've seen the type of races i prefer to have a punt in, but they are usually big field handicaps which often means the bookies hold all the aces. I look at these type of races as trying to solve a puzzle. It would be a lot easier for me to punt in small fields but the prices are not really conducive to the small amount i regularly wager. Sometimes i win and sometimes i lose. I will point out that i only stake what i can easily afford to lose and, to this end, i work to a 'bank'.
I no longer keep a record of profit/loss as the online firms i use do that for me on a monthly basis. And the monthly profit/loss margin fluctuates - i have been as much as £350 down and over a grand up. Swings and roundabouts. I would not continue to punt every day were i not successful from time to time.
I enjoy pitting my wits against the 'experts'. The moment i stop enjoying it will be the moment i cease to do so:-)

One Christmas I opened a card and out fell a 50 Euro note.I did not know the names on the card, nor did I know the addressee on the envelope. I know all my neighbours names having lived here for so long. There was no inkling who had sent it to any known recipient, but it was clearly marked for my address. I kept the money and card together for a few months. Eventually I donated the money to Cancer Research.

Prior to that I had received a cheque and Christmas card for a whole family from what I assumed to be grandparents. We had the same bank so I phoned my branch to explain and told them I had torn the cheque up and it was in the post to the bank. They took down the account details. Less than a week later I received a lovely card from the grandparents thanking me for my honesty and prompt action. They had time to send another cheque and card to the correct address and wished me a lovely Christmas. That was nicer than the first one I typed, but I benefited so much from it.
