If you are renting somewhere do you tend to make the place your own with artwork / home furnishings etc?

I’m always a bit reluctant to with renting as I think there’s no point as I don’t own it and could get a notice to move out anytime

I suppose you do your best to make it yours without spending loads on stuff that you can't take with you.
I'm of the belief that wherever I live, it must feel like home.
So, back in the day when I rented, I did whatever was allowed/I could get away with. The first flat j had on my one had the walls papered...with pretty wrapping paper. Later, with partner/ husband...walls were painted in deep shades...navy blue, olive green, red. Maybe we were lucky to have easy going landlords...though I don't even remember asking. A bathroom git papered in blue/silver paper...very 70s! This was 30-40 years ago in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I get the impression landlords are far less permissive now. Leases then were also a minimum of 1 year...sometimes 2.
Of course we make it home.
I can't believe you would do any different.
The trick is to be a model tenant.
Landlord's love a tenant who pays promptly, and looks after the property well. You won't be asked to leave then.
Surely its worth making homely, artwork and stuff like that you can take with you if you have to move on.
Just use stuff you can take with you
