This came up in my Facebook today. I wonder how authentic the claim is. If it's correct, then why aren't we doing it. Vested interests perhaps.

Interesting link jno, thank you. I see that Chris Grayling is planning for the UK to research it. Nice little earner for one of the Tories rich cronies no doubt.

I would have thought the India's years and years of experience spoke for itself.

I have seen this too but not heard anyone here is discussing it. It appears a good idea to use up some of the waste plastic there is.

It should be looked into but India does not experience the bad weather that is prevalent in the UK.
I have herad of this re-cycling idea. Would be great if it works, but govt and local authorities will want studies on it, won 't they? And that could take years.
We are making roads out of used nappies. https://www.independent.co.uk/climate-change/the-roads-are-paved-with-nappies-b2019548.html

I'm sure we have been using some plastics such as bottles in roads for years.
there's a trial in the Carlisle area I believe.
Better than throwing plastic into the ocean.
we are.

It would have a far greater chance of success if he was to be kept well away from it.
Do we need that many more roads? When roads are dug up & resurfaced where does the dug up material go? Into landfill? Ah.

Just laying the tracks for all those Scalextric cars coming off the production lines for an adoring but gullible public.
davebro; "Do we need that many more roads? When roads are dug up & resurfaced where does the dug up material go? Into landfill? Ah." - now I don't know how usual this is but when they resurfaced an 8 mile section of dual carriageway near me they basically recycled all the old road into the new. They had big signs up proclaiming it at the end.
That's exactly what they do, TTT.
yeah apparently they recycled 65000 tons of old road into shiny new tarmac etc and they built an extra lane on a section of it!
