Has anyone been hit by this? There is absolutely no diesel round here. We are 5 miles away from anywhere and although we have about half a tank, that wont last long unless these "Eco Warriors" are stopped. Apart from the obvious stuff, this will also mean that my husband may not be able to attend his hospital appointment and my 95 year old grandmother will be deprived of her essential care and support (her family). Others may have far worse circumstances. Whilst the protestors say they want to hit big business, they are really hitting ordinary people who have day to day issues.

Do you agree with their actions? Do you think their message is lost to the execution of their protest? I have always supported the right to peaceful protest but this has made me feel quite murderous. Although I have to consider whether it is really a "peaceful protest" when the indirect consequences of their actions will undoubtedly include innocent people suffering real harm.

That appears to be typical Daily Wail reporting, blaming diesel shortages almost entirely upon protesters (with only a passing reference to the war in Ukraine).

The BBC website sees it somewhat differently though, pointing out that there's a worldwide shortage of diesel and that 18% of the UK's supply normally comes from Russia:

There may be a worldwide shortage of diesel but our supplies aren’t depleted. These people have no business disrupting the country as they do. If they are protesting for genuine reasons - and I very much doubt they are - they’re going the right way about losing support or sympathy for their cause.
Instead of using a solvent to un-glue them from the road, send the builders in to drill the tarmac round their hands, and send them on their way with the chunks stuck to their hands. That should keep them busy for a few days. :)
No diesel here, the protesters are all over the nearby Kingsbury distribution depot.
17,30 Naomi. There is Not a worldwide shortage of diesel. it is only in the UK. End of.
^^^ From my link above, Gulliver:
"The Ukraine crisis has led to a shortage of diesel across Europe, which depends on Russia for about half of its diesel imports".
No problems round this way, possibly too cold for the raggedy-*** to be out and about.
Rhymes with passed.
Gulliver, //The BBC website sees it somewhat differently though, pointing out that there's a worldwide shortage of diesel//
sandra4444:"Instead of using a solvent to un-glue them from the road, send the builders in to drill the tarmac round their hands, and send them on their way with the chunks stuck to their hands. Bet they filled their cars up before meeting for their fiasco. Shame they don't find them clamped when they finally return to them.
