Family friend are looking for a collie puppy and are keen to avoid farms.
He casually mentioned it would be handy if he knew anyone who could advise him where to look for genuine breeders of collies. Told him I'd put the Q into answerbank so there it is :-)

As a point of interest, they have discussed getting a puppy for over a year and have researched various breeds, considered their house layout and generally ''done due diligence;;

It might help anyone trying to provide an answer here to know roughly where the guy lives. (It's perhaps unlikely that someone living in Cornwall would be prepared to travel to the north of Scotland to collect a dog).

However this list of breeders might help:

Rescuing a collie should also be considered, I feel . . .

Wherever he gets a dog from, I hope that he's got plenty of spare time! Collies need at least an hour's morning exercise and an hour's evening exercise ;-)

I knew I'd forgotten summat. He's semi-rural and Scotland (just cos I know where he lives, I somehow expect you good folk to know too lol)

many thanks for the links, Chris will pass these on.

Woofy, bless his cotton socks - the family friend that is - that's the one thing I've constantly 'nagged' them about. The intelligence of a collie is never to be under-estimated.

I might just introduce them to my pal who is currently on her 3rd collie and they can converse happily :-)
Cut out the middle-man.

Thanks for replies! xx
