China have declined to criticise the illegal Russian invasion of the Ukraine.
Stop going to your local Chinese restaurant or buying Chinese produced goods on the internet. I realise that’s difficult since they manufacture just about everything including your Lateral Flow Kits for Covid. If Putin gets away with this the flood gates for all the worlds tyrants will open.
Putin, Chi, Assad, Jong un, etc etc..

I've called Ukraine The Ukraine for most of my life, it's just how it was when I started the great journey of life.

Have I been brainwashed by Russian plants in the education system and do I need to submit myself for reprogramming?
As an aside will 'they' fix my Bombay, Peking and Kiev tendencies?

Please help.
Nah, but they might fix your Rhodesian ones !
“ Russia calls the place The Ukraine”

Er, no they don’t.
Russian has no word for “the” but it’s surprising how many people think that
// Ukraine name has been in use since the 12th century to describe this region. The translation of Ukraine can be interpreted as “borderlands”, which led some in the era after World War II to include “the” in the name.

Ukraine gained sovereignty again in 1991. In the years that followed the collapse of the USSR “the” was dropped as a signal of the newfound independence of Ukraine from Russia.

Today, adding “the” to the name is thought of as a throwback to the Soviet era and is considered to be disrespectful to Ukrainians.

In addition to being a Cold War verbal holdover that’s out of date, the usage of “the” before Ukraine is also considered grammatically incorrect. There are only 2 countries presently that use the word “the” before their larger titles. Those countries are The Bahamas and The Gambia. //
Is it because they put 'The' in front of some words when translating then? I've often heard that done from foreign speakers (no critism) from many countries.
I think people just think it sounds a bit patronising.
The Brits insist in calling it, THE Dordogne, when it is simply Dordogne (The Dordogne is the river)

We don't say THE Normandy do we?
It’s odd because although it also annoys me I have never heard anyone say it with any ill intent
But we do tend to say the UK.

Do get why people would think that. I wouldn't deliberately use 'The Ukraine'.
Yes but it’s the (a) United Kingdom.
Like I say though, far worse things are happening to Ukraine than bunging a definite article in front of it.
Last night a Russian missile hit a huge shopping centre near our flat. Several staff working in there after hours were killed. Massive complex now totally flattened. It had clothes shops, food halls you name it. The fecking coat I’m wearing now came from there
About as sensible an idea as kicking dachshunds was in Britain during WW1.
India are still buying oil fromRussia so I guess thats the Indian restaurants gone as well, some French and Turkish companies are still dealing with Russia so it goes on.
The OP seems similar to Joseph Heller's "The Glorious Loyalty Oath Crusade" hopefully not descending into Orwell's daily "the Two Minutes Hate".
'Western values' and the Judeo-Christian beliefs and practices out the 'Overton window'.
