Included in the $1billion dollar package are 9000 anti aircraft systems

Is this the right approach?
(On balance I think it is)

I am sure the Ukrainis will become pretty accurate and quickly so - if they miss the aircraft what happens to the missile - i.e. deploy it on the Eastern border with La Russe.
the missiles ( according to the Times) which are landing and exploding are accompanied by little darty things which sense radar and send blocking blasts of radio waves

not seen in conventional arms and missiles so far.

So 'hittile' technology really does work ( missile can shoot down a missile) - Patriot didnt really work in the war of the cities when Iran was shelling Tel Aviv - more damage was done by the patriots. It originated in the automated battlefield idea 1964 around the Cu Chi tunnels in Viet .

// if they miss the aircraft what happens to the missile //

I know this is AB but I dont think you scoop up a missed ( but landed) missile and use it again - I think it is sort of empty xc for the explody bit

Lots of missiles have been shot down already
The DPR folk (pro-Russian regime in Donetsk) have claimed to have shot down two SS-21s fired by Ukraine which then fell over the city centre and killed up to 20 civilians (I posted a video of Indian TV coverage of the first).
I think only the locals believe it was actually a Ukrainian missile if it was anything.

The Russians within the last couple of hours dropped a bomb on a theatre in Mariupol where 1000 people including children were sheltering.
Casualties unknown

In other possible news:
The abducted mayor of Melitopol reportedly freed by Ukrainian special forces.
Explosions heard in a number of Belarusian towns this evening.
No confirmation of either
Question Author
The mayor is definitely free.
If he was really rescued by Ukrainian forces what on earth does that say a out the competence of the occupiers?

Putin on TV last night, as you may have seen.
If proof were needed he’s lost the plot.
And very angry.

If nothing else it may discourage TTT from using his fifth column insult so casually.

Unless of course...no, he couldn't be.. could he?
Ich//If proof were needed he’s lost the plot.//
The proof is there in the rantings of a megalomaniac.
He's not lost the plot. That IS his plot. The very worst of human history is in the process of repeating itself.
Question Author
He knows there’s trouble ahead and he’s lining up the scapegoats to deflect blame from himself
bit like that little moustached man blaming certain peoples for the ill's of his country, that did not end well for him or his so called people, who were just cannon fodder to him, did he not say germans were not worthy or something like that at the end.
Question Author
At the end Hitler even wanted his generals to destroy Germany as he felt the German people had let him down.
By then they had had enough though and ignored him.
On the "War News Part 6" theme... I know that in the grand scheme of things it pales into insignificance, but it's hard not to feel so angry at Johnson's comparison to the Ukrainian struggle for freedom in the face of an army that is literally killing their citizens as coming from "the same instinct" as the Brexit vote. I just... I can't begin to understand how he could think that this was a remotely sensible comparison. Never mind that, if he had paid any attention, Ukraine has applied in just the last to weeks to join the EU.

It's just crass. That's all I'll say.
