Lucky you!
Not so much a rarity per se but it is for my area of Dorset, I was lucky enough today to see a red kite really close to my house. I've only seen them here once before some years ago although I'm very familiar with them when I go to other areas/abroad.
Neighbour plowing today. 6 cattle egrets. Also seagulls inland as very windy and rough sea today
Not into birdwatching - but friends are and, when dog walking this morning, friend spotted and showed us a pair of Oystercatchers. Apparently they haven't been around here for donkey's years, but a pair was spotted last year. So the hope is that this is them returning. E. Yorkshire, about 7 miles inland.
^^^ Don't know it they are rarities generally, but they are here. We've also had lots of fieldfare, which I'm told are scarce this year down south.
