My gas fire has been condemned so I am going to buy a new one. My gas fire is outset and there is a flat panel that goes behind the fire and fills the chimney void. It cannot be seen when the fire is in place. This panel needs replacing. I cannot identify what it is made of and need to know what to buy.

A HETAS registered fitter will be able to advise. Be careful its not an ACM (Asbestos Containing Material) if you're taking it out.

It's already out and disposed of by the gas engineer

Then I would imagine the people who install the new one will sort the infill panel.
