In a written message released to mark Commonwealth Day, the monarch, 95, said it had given her “pleasure” to renew in her Platinum Jubilee year the promise she made in 1947, “that my life will always be devoted in service”.

That, I think, puts an end to any thoughts of her stepping down in favour of Charles. Following the publication of her wish for Camilla to become Queen Consort when Charles becomes king, it seems she is putting her affairs in order and leaving no room for speculation. Wise lady.

Well the Pope resigned didn't he. (Ratzenthingy)
HM could always make Charles and indeed even William Prince Regents to handle the day to day mundane stuff and then roll out for the things that she likes such as Remembrance, the Commonwealth Day and Ascot - possibly the Trooping too.

I do think it's about mobility but having said that she came down from Sandringham to the Castle by chopper recently and that's a lot further than Windsor to Buck Pal and she'll be coming up to town for the Memorial, so a little strange.
Babylon.

I think it’s more about the walk down the centre aisle at the abbey, DTC. There and back is a long way when the old bones are stiff and the tv cameras are whirring.

Douglas at 7.33, an astute observation.
she'll have to do it for the Memorial - shame they can't come up with a 'papa' sedan' and carry her into the Abbey.

Go to 34.30 on this compilation.....
duh, a papal sedan...!

Haaaa! Doubt that would suit, DTC. :o)
