The government would be very stupid to say the least if along with checking the refugees, they did not also check all those offering shelter. Are they of good character, have jobs, can provide a suitable room or seperate space...and on and on. Do they have dogs that are ok with strangers?

I've no interest in where they go. My only interest is the effect that they (and any other newcomers) will have on the people already in this country. Anyone who thinks it through, instead of spouting the "peace & love" mantra and insulting those who disagree with them, can see that. I made the reasons for that clear in this thread on Friday evening and I won't go over them again except to say that there is more - very much more - to accommodating many thousands of refugees than simply asking people to give up their spare rooms.

I'm so pleased that one of my granddaughters and husband put their names down to offer a home to a Ukranian family before the monetary offer came into being. They are a lovely couple who have helped people before and have lots of room in a large rural house with one more bathroom than bedrooms. A dog would be welcome too.
I hope it works out for all concerned.

As I understand it, all those wanting to take in refugees will be vetted so it is to be hoped that any attempted fraud would be picked up at the early stages.

Why should anybody be paid for taking in refugees from one particular country, for example?

No, I wouldn't, because I have lots of friends in the black community and I don't like the way the Ukrainian football crowds chant racist slogans and make racist gestures at England's black football players.

Canary, given that a majority of Ukrainian football fans are male, and the refugees from Ukraine are mainy women and children, isn't that a case of you victimising the wrong people? As ZM said, if people based their opinions on the actions of footballers ball fans, British people would be banned worldwide.
