Catherine Corless has finally beaten the Catholic Church and the government of Ireland.

Won't mean much to many....to me it means so much.

The remains of the babies and toddlers can at last be taken out of the sewer the nuns placed them in.

It would be wonderful if her tireless work got the result it so richly deserves.

It would, Mamya. There are women who don't know if their baby was taken for "adoption" or wheeled dead or dying in that wheelbarrow to be dumped in the sewer.
So much time has passed with both the church and government delaying the answers that many have died not knowing but at least this, if the government keeps its promise, will help some and give the remains a proper burial.
Wonderful!
All praise to her and her work. Hopefully justice for those little ones and their others.
That is wonderful news gness. I watched the TV programme about Tuam, that I think you recommended and it was heartbreaking.
Your link is largely hidden behind a paywall for me, Gness. This link might be better for people who don't subscribe to the Irish Independent:

Thanks, Chris. That will help those who can't see my link. Didn't realise that.
Thanks also for your replies. An amazing woman I have supported since learning more about this. She started by just attending an evening class on local history and felt she should delve into what had happened to the babies.
She is still being attacked for taking a stand against the nuns who lied about what they had done with the babies but after what she's done she'll stand up to that.
I hope the passing of the Bill was unanimous (it deserved to be) and that the excavations due to start later this year, actually do.
Too much time and pain has already happened.

A woman worthy of admiration, full of grit and determination.

She is, Alba. An ordinary woman who thought…I will do something about this. And hasn’t she just for so many.
I can’t read that , sorry G. RIP those wee babies .
Has the bill been passed?
Gness, I would imagine this means a lot to many who have been affected by this and wider. It must be of some comfort to know that they finally have justice.
makes you wonder how such an evil religion gets followers.
I'll finish that for you Tora:

...who'll let this stuff go on.
Wonderful news...but when will it be known if the Bill is actually passed?...as I read the article as saying it's due to be.
So many families must need closure.

I'll update when I hear or read more. So many here have turned away from the church and even those who still worship refuse to be cowed as we were for so many years that I think the power to continue to put obstacles in her way has gone.

I doubt if the Government would dare to go back on its promise though who knows with Governments, but too many people are now aware of what happened and where these babies still lie.
