When did you last use it and who is the network provider?
As Barry hints at, all mobile operators terminate accounts, with all credit being lost, if a chargeable call isn't made within a certain period of time. With many (most? all?) firms, that period is 180 days.

Thanks for your replies,it was well over the 180 days.Do I have a "next step"?
Try getting someone to ring or send a text to the phone.

Other than putting a new SIM into the phone, the answer has to be 'No'. Some companies keep your old number allocated to you for up to 270, or 360, days (e.g. https://mobile.asda.com/help/topping-up/top-up-expire ) but not all do (e.g. https://support.vodafone.co.uk/Pay-as-you-go/Understanding-Pay-as-you-go-/1479617222/How-do-I-reactivate-my-Pay-as-you-go-number.htm ). Either way, you've almost certainly lost your seven quid.

If your phone was locked a specific network, any new card will need to be using that same network's service. If your phone wasn't locked to a network, the most popular providers among AB members include Asda (which I use), GiffGaff and 1p Mobile.
