Not Washing Up liquid but for clothes just to be clear.
The odd one or two tell you that it's for colours but I've no idea of the rest. I must be going bonkers in my old age but how do you tell? I want some for Whites.

Thank you.

LB - not sure of the question. But I use washing powder (usually Bold or Ariel) - you can buy Ace bleach for whites (fantastic) and Ace for colours - but I wouldn't use it on colours.

You can also buy Woolite for black clothes. That's supposed to be good. Hope I answered question correctly.
LB I use the same product for all my washing, never found any difference. Sure my mum with her hard bar of soap and scrubbing board never gave it a thought lol.

JJ I don't use the powdered I use the liquid and I want the right liquid alternative one for Whites, not Colours.
But I've had another look and I can see a powder that actually says it gets your Whites clean so I'll order that.
This is the dog's fault LOL. He lies with his head on one pillow with me on the other. He stains his, I don't stain mine. But his stain hasn't been coming out in the wash so I'll give it a try with Ariel Powder for Whites. Thank you.

Haha MB, I remember my granny doing that every Monday morning bless her. Thank goodness for washing machines. We are so lucky.
I use any laundry liquid which happens to be on offer.
All our towels and bedding are white so when I put them on a wash I also use Vanish oxi action powder crystal white, just one scoop on top of the laundry in the machine. Works a treat and brings all the white washing up sparkling.
Jj, I don't think ACE for colours is a bleach...it's a stain remover. Why wouldn't you use it for colours if that's what it's formulated for?
Vagus, I can't remember when I last had any white bedding. Colour everywhere for me, lol.
Pasta, I have lots of colour everywhere else but when I decided to sort all the bedding out I decided it was easier to have all white so everything is interchangeable, everything is king size. Some has a bit of white embroidery on, some has a bit of pleating.
Same with the towels, all the bathrooms have white suites with coloured tiles so all towels are white too.
The kitchen and cloakroom are the exception.
I will sometimes give thoughts to simplifying in that way...but my brain won't work like that...I'd regress!
LB, I read a tip the other day that might be useful. To get whites extra clean it suggested putting a squirt of Fairy washing-up liquid in with your detergent. Not too much though, otherwise you'll be inundated with suds! I've no idea whether or not it works but it might be worth a try.
Haha!...I've done that for some stubborn marks and it's worked.
I am the same as you Vagus. All bedclothes, towels are snow white - no colours and I love it. Particularly my hot press all the towels are folded and pure white.
I heard that chucking in a handful of aspirin tablets in to the washing machine get your whites white.
oh and all underpants are white - couldn't bear colours in the undercarriage LOL
Colour there ^^^for me too. Often coordinated with what's over it!
I just use whatever pods are on sale and add any oxi action liquid to whites

Thank you everybody for your suggestions. I've decided to give Naomi's tip a try first as I have a bottle of Fairy liquid on the go at the moment. If that doesn't work I'll try Vagus's suggestion of Vanish oxi action powder crystal white.
dolly blue?
Put the dogs pillow in a plastic bag with an old towel on top.
Question Author
I could put the dog in plastic bag ...
LB, have you considered getting him a few waterproof pillow covers? Easily wiped and washed - and they would keep his actual pillow clean too. Amazon sell them quite cheaply.
Question Author
No I hadn't Naomi thanks. I've googled them and see that they are often called incontinence pillow protectors. Hmmmm! He'll be mortified when he reads that;-)
