Rumours recently were that his removal was a key decision in whether Hamilton would ever race again or not
That aside I believe the FIA have done the right thing
People in that position have a responsibility to get the big decisions right
Masi got it badly wrong

yes judge the last year of fiasco from masi only serves to underline what a master Charlie W was. He would not have ballsed up that last race like Masi did.
I've just noticed that Herbie Blash has been appointed to assist the two new race directors (Eduardo Freitas and Niels Wittich). Herbie was Assistant Race Director under Charlie Whiting for many years and could usually be seen ushering the top three from their cars in parc fermé to the weighing scales. (Always amuses me that a billion dollar high-tec sport uses a set of bathroom scales to weigh the competitors!). Liberty could have done a lot worse than appointing Herbie as the new race director.
