I have for years suffered with Catarrh, blocked sinuses etc, at night its worse and in the morning I spend ages 'unclogging' my nose and throat, would a humidifier help relieve it.
Thanks for any help.

Do you use an anti allergy pillow? That helped me.
try it and see
( which means the response is variable)
One presumes that your "catarrh" has been investigated by a professional and if so and there has been no improvement then yes, try s humidifier.
Do you breath through your mouth/snore when asleep?

I do - but when I used to do yoga breathing exercises there was a vast improvement (also overweight may be an issue).

I also have dust mite allergy which results in much snot - but I can't be fussed to make my home dust free!

I had an operation on my nose about 20 years ago to clear the problem, all I ended up with was no sense of smell or taste ever since and still with the same problem. I've tried allergy pillows etc with no change, I consider myself fairly fit for 74 years old and am not overweight, I've tried nasal sprays but with little effect, I don't really want to go through another operation but just want to try different things to see if it eases my problem.
Thanks for the helpful feedback
I presume that in your trial of nasal sprays, you have tried steroid nasal sprays e.g Beconase or Flixonase ?
I suffer the same and have found taking an antihistamine each night the best solution. I have tried everything including humdifiers and air filtration machines but the antihistamine is best.
OP - have you had specific allergy tests?
Question Author
I seemed to remember having a few allergy tests, nothing positive, it was over 20 years ago so I maybe mistaken.
Sqad, I haven't tried either of those, can they be bought over the counter?
I'm also willing to try anti-histamine.
peter......yes you can buy them over the counter.
