I am thinking about the registration number of my father's first car. I know its not taken anymore, ive checked online and I know it's pre 1963. So would I be allowed to have it on my car?

Probably, contact the licensing authority at Swansea.
Was it a silver and black registration plate? I don’t know if you can transfer them onto the ones now yellow, white and black. Good question.
Put the reg in here to see if it is still being used - it could be as DVLA sell old registration numbers to people who want personalised / cherished numbers (it's free to check)

If it isn't being used DVLA may be able to sell it to you but it would have to be in the modern reflective white front , rear yellow combo

I have checked online and it is not attached to any vehicle and I know it would have to be the modern colours if I wanted to use it. I can't find it listed on any site where available plates are listed for sale. So is it a case of if its ever been on a past vehicle it can never be used again even if that vehicle was scrapped 50 years ago?
