I hope so as I do not want a loan under any circumstances.
I've not heard of this but if that's right just repay it immediately, danny. I certainly will.

reading that.
then you have no choice as the supplier will be automatically reducing your bill by £200 and then claiming the £200 from the government . then you repay the government via your bill over the next 5 years
You should have a choice, not be saddled with a loan for five years.
From the link.

//Everyone who lives in council tax bands A to D will qualify,//

That's me out. Good.
No pleasing some people. It is not a loan it is a discount which then gets repaid without any interest.
don't bother me either way
You're right Lankeela. It's as broad as it's long really. It's actually very generous.
Lankeela, I do not need the discount thank you.As I said there should be a choice. It is loan from the government to the energy companies.
This smells like something that will be re-imagined into a grant and all talk of loan will quietly disappear.

As I said it is not a loan - the government will give the money to the energy companies who will then be able to reduce your bills and spread the cost over the following years. No different to them reducing prices then increasing them over time.

More smoke and mirrors from a desperate PM.

~You are right Danny, there should be a choice. This PM is becoming more and more like a socialist every day. This is certainly not the Tory way.

Mind you not a problem to me either as I wont qualify.
