But watching ITV News from Kabul and seeing children queuing for a bowl,of rice from an Afghan charity ,breaks my heart and yet……
The interviewer was taken to a dirty shack where one of the children lived, in there was two younger sister around 3&5 + a 10 week old baby , why oh why carry on having babies in such atrocious conditions ?

I don't think any of us can answer for these women. They probably know about contraception (after 20 years) but can't access it now. I haven't read all the answers t.b.h. so I'm probably just repeating. The conditions are horrible, but if one's husband insists on having sex - there's not a lot you can do. (Certainly not in their circumstances.) I honestly don't...

No Baz, I don’t because I have no idea where that money ever goes to in such a corrupt society, clearly not to those starving kids
Bobbisox1
And the children are left to suffer
——-
Sadly it is
The fighting age males of that country had a stark choice
Themselves or their children
They chose self first

No surprise but they can take time out to impregnate a female knowing the child will starve? They’re not men, they’re not animals either , animals have hearts!
So do you think these charities are simply passing the funds on to corrupt individuals ?
Question Author
I have no idea , but where’s the money going ? An orphanage ? A School ? I see no evidence of either, do you?
Just asking what you think

I don't know where it goes .

Perhaps someone on
here can give some information

I honestly don't know about the level of understanding amongst Afghan males, who does, but there may be pressures - supplying future 'Warriors for Islam'; proving yourself a powerful male? I think that contraception is more an issue for the women than for the men.
Going back over 20 years when I found myself thrust into the position of giving sex education to a bunch of Pakistani boys and girls (13+) for one whole lesson. It turned out to be necessary to explain that a Mars Bar wrapper was not sufficient.
I have a horrible feeling that that is the sort of level which pertains in Afghanistan now.
We can't do anything, Bobbi. We've tried in the past. Nothing really works,
^^^ These days I only give to charities where I know what happens with the donations. All local and accountable.

I know you’re right jourdain , I find it very sad though
I would honestly say 'love' has nothing to do with it. Sex and clove are poles apart.
Its simply culture or religion. The women accept it. The men expect it. And contraception is available, just not used. And it will continue to go on. As has been said, children are produced to ensure the older generation are looked after in old age.

I'm the same jourdain. I now only donate to local charities or charities for rare medical conditions that get no publicity and can't afford to advertise.
It's a viscous circle isn't it .

The innocent kids are born - they have no say how they are brought up - they are indoctrinated by the adults - they grow up into adults -they have kids - their kids have no say how they are brought up - they imdoctrinate their kids -their kids.........

'vicious' , even
Yes Bazile and it happens here too in some communities. It's life unfortunately.
//why oh why carry on having babies in such atrocious conditions?//
A 10 week old baby today, would have been conceived before the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the subsequent takeover by the Taliban, so the atrocious conditions quite likely did not exist at that time.
That's very true The chair. However, I'm willing to bet that amongst the poor suffering now the pregnancy rate will still be high.
//Its simply culture or religion. The women accept it. The men expect it. //

As Lottie^ said. Regardless of conditions, nothing in such societies will change.

My take on this is the women there will be ov average intelligence ( I’d imagine) therefore they must be aware that bringing another human being into the evil regime they’re forced to live in now, knowing they’ll starve , I know an argument would be ‘they don’t have a choice’ the men will take their ‘rights’ from these poor women , it is indeed a vicious circle and the children continue to suffer
It's a different mindset, bobbi.
I give but with the thought that it might not all get where it should but even if it's only a small percentage, it's something which is better than nothing. Not sure if this is right but did I hear that all the charities fled and there are no more in the country now?
