My daughter who I spent a few hours with on Monday, phoned me this morning to say she has shown positive on a lateral flow today, she is going for a PCR test this afternoon.
I know I should test myself, so I asked a neighbour who was going shopping today if he could pick a test up for me at the chemist but he came back empty handed as there are none.
I've tried to book a test online but it said none available in England!
No idea how my daughter booked hers unless she said she is a front line worker.
What can I do?

No idea why this has happened, but I went through it all again and magically there are now load of available appointments near where I live, so I have an appointment for tomorrow. Yay!
What a palaver.
Thanks to all of you for your suggestions and help xx
Glad you got it sorted out :)

Thanks chelle. I was really beginning to panic.
Can't understand why it said none available when I first went on it.
really glad you're sorted!
I had a similar experience trying to book a train ticket to see my parents (first time in 2 years) but yesterday there were none available at all. So I was checking the news thinking I'd missed something about travel, but they were all available today. Really don't need these extra stresses right now do we!
i saw an article about trains this morning - they are cancelling them left right an centre due to train drivers being ill
i also wonder if it's better for us all to get this variant as it seems to be faster and less harsh
Fingers crossed for you Barsel and that Christmas can go ahead as planned.

I think it might be touch and go about Christmas, but I found a chemist who has the lateral flow tests so I'm picking them up tomorrow when I've been to the walk in centre.
Not sure which type of test it will be yet.
hope your daughter is ok too is she the unvaccinated one?
Don't have a test. All testing is the cause of the problems. Testing should be halted, and the centres used as vacc centres.
No testing, no problems! Ipso fatso! :o)
Question Author
bednobs, yes she is. Neither her, hubby or 2 children have had the vaccine so I will be very worried about her.
Barsel, I live in Middleton. There is a testing centre just round the corner from me. I've never seen anyone in it when I've gone past, which is lots of times. Nobody needs a test. If everyone ignored testing, there would be no action needed by the govt. And no. I haven't had a test. At all. It's pointless.
You say you have an appointment for tomorrow

If your daughter has infected you , isn't the incubation period longer than 4 days?
//Nobody needs a test. If everyone ignored testing, there would be no action needed by the govt. And no. I haven't had a test. At all. It's pointless.//
Good point... 147,573 deaths recorded within 28 days of a positive test... without any testing from day one the figure would be zero. Covid solved. In fact never would have been a problem that needed solving. Of course we might have had 300000 deaths with similar symptoms if we'd never tested and left infected people to infect even more without knowing, but they'd have just been ... well deaths... and death happens all the time. So whats the problem. We can go back to talking about Brexit....
Brexit - What's that , a new cereal ?
You were doing very well until that last sentence, Bobb.... :-)
