A discussion instigated by Khandro in 'News' has turned into a debate on religion but is now almost off the front page. If anyone is interested in pursuing this further, since this is a more appropriate place to continue the discussion, a link to the original is here.

( The wicked remained. Next! 0
How do wicked people affect us now? After foretelling that this present era would involve “critical times hard to deal with,” the apostle Paul was inspired to write: “Wicked men and impostors will advance from bad to worse.” (2 Tim. 3:1-5, 13) Have you seen those prophetic words come true? Many of us have been victims of wicked people, such as violent bullies, hateful bigots, and vicious criminals. Some of those are openly wicked; others are impostors, hiding what they do under an appearance of righteousness. Even if we ourselves have not been victims, such wicked people still affect us. We are sickened at heart when we learn of their horrible acts. The way the wicked brutalize children, the elderly, and other defenseless ones fills us with horror. Wicked people exhibit a spirit that seems subhuman, animalistic, even demonic. (Jas. 3:15) Happily, Jehovah’s Word counters such bad news with good news.
It will take more than 'Jehovah's word' to make any difference!

Goodlife, 10:00 Sun 05th Dec, makes you wonder why God created the capacity for all that wickedness ... doesn't it?
naomi: Try Milton's 'Paradise lost' for an explanation
Question Author
Been there and done it, Khandro. Not good enough.
Khandro, you seem to be well read, but unwilling to ever vouchsafe anything you may have learned from your reading to us who haven't read your interesting books. Your posts would be more enlightening and interesting if you actually said something instead of just saying "read this."
naomi: You say you have read the bible & Milton's Paradise Lost, I have given you Jordan Peterson, Heinrich von Kleist, Thomas Mann, Rainer Maria Rilke & Franz Kafka's take on Genesis, & still you plod along with no more understanding of its message than nailit (or now Atheist!).
A dreadful Americanism I know, but, 'go figure' :0)
You don't get it do you Khandro.

Not everyone is hung up like you with the need to convince everyone to think like you.

The majority on here, and that includes the regulars who play Groundhog Day with you ... don't care.

Surely that must be dawning on you by now ...
Question Author
Khandro, you never offer an original thought. You depend upon the meanderings of other people - always - and you can’t understand why I am not equally impressed. If you can bring yourself for once to give a straight answer to a straight question what leads you to believe that any of them know more about what is, potentially, the unknown than you …or me … or anyone?

AH, I trust you’re not including me there. I care.
Question Author
Khandro, I forgot to say I understand the message but I think it’s …. to be polite …. fanciful.
I'm not sure what kind of books those people demanding total originality read, but most of the books I read have indexes at the back, & it often seems that the brighter the author the longer the index of references.

For example, I'm reading at the moment a critique of Walter Benjamin (The Benjamin Files. Verso, 2020) by Fredric Jameson (& there's not many people sharper than Fredric !) Out of interest I just checked & find that though it is less than 250 pages in length, it has an index of 14 pages!

Of course neither he, nor certainly I, are any match for the highly original thinkers of AnswerBank.

Question Author
Khandro, I can only speak for myself but I read all sorts of books. However, rather than tell you to read them or quote chunks from them, I think about what I've read, formulate my own ideas about it, expand on it and offer the result to the discussion. Can you really not see the difference? Your sarcasm is misplaced because until you do that, you're right. You aren't a match for the 'highly original thinkers' of AnswerBank. You're not an original thinker - highly or otherwise.
naomi: In order to try to get the last word, you never seem to mind what twaddle you write.
Khandro, Naomi's last post isn't twaddle. In what way would you say that it is twaddle?

call the police... there's been a murder!
Some people simply cannot bear to face the fact that someone just may perhaps know something that they do not, it drives the immature mind wild.
Khandro, no-one minds anyone knowing something they don't.

But passing off something you think and believe is not offering something you know.

The problem for you is, everyone on here that interacts with you, knows the difference between what you know, a fact, and what you think, a belief.

Everyone else understands that, except you.

I know who has the immature mind on here.
^^ See what I mean?
The fact that you decide that my mind is 'immature', and that your ongoing piffle drives me 'wild' shows your delusions are increasing
