The Electronic Key Fob Of My Sister In Laws Fiesta Will Unlock My Wifes Fiesta Too!

They are both Mk7, although of different age and exact model. Is this a common problem? Oddly, my wife's key fob would not unlock the other car!

The key fob of my 2009 Fiesta used to open the fiesta belonging to my work colleague (before I retired). her car was often parked a couple of spaces away from mine in the car park, as we used to arrive at work at approx the same time. The first one to leave work unlocked both cars. We complained to the local Ford garage, but nothing was done about it.
