My niece has just started a job in care and on her wage slip there is a payment for quote "test covid'. Querying this she was told the government paid her employer money to pass on to employees as an incentive for covid testing. At least that was her understanding. I have never heard of this before, has anyone else?

I've never heard of it, but I'm bumping this so that others who might have an answer see it.
Sounds like it could be the scheme in this link

That looks like it might be the answer, thanks corby.
So is this only for council run care homes? I work in a privately run supported living home and I will be asking my employer about this.
I haven't heard of it. I could understand them paying for vaccines to be done, but testing is usually a standard requirement anyway at the moment. Good for her :-)
It seems odd though, tcl, that homes get the tests free and carers get tested, free, when they arrive at work. I'm not sure who the payment is intended for.
