One year my mum got a bargain artificial xmas tree and decided to make sure it was all ok so she put it up and then put the lights on it etc and it was great. The problem was that it was August and she said, well might as well leave it up now!

My twinkles were supposed to go at the window today but I’d taken a shedload of lights to the pub for my ‘exciting’ party ;0) and we just got them back before, I’m out tomorrow so it’ll be Thursday now, I can wait :0)))

Someone had better ring my local council I think, the Coca Cola bus will be there on Friday , shock, horror :0(
We haven't done Christmas decorations or had a tree since our kids left home. However we do have lots of candles around the house and cosy log fires that we can appreciate from inside the house rather than trying to show off to passers-by with decorations that can only be seen from the street.
Question Author
No showing off here Diddly , you obviously didn’t see my earlier post, we light up our windows ( all of us) since lockdown , imagine a full street doing this for a reason?
If we put up decorations outside they wouldn't be seen by anybody excrpt us. But I must admit our house looks quite Christmassy without decorations, with its beams, large old brick inglenook with woodburner and candles. We did decorate and have a tree when our son was young, but it only took a few extras like a holly wreath.

Oohhh I’d just love an Inglenook Pat, lucky lady
We found it under three other fireplaces Bobbi when we took on the rebuild and renovation. Imported with all the hooks for utensils and a bread oven. Youd be surprised what else we uncovered as the renovation progressed. That's back in the days when I became a builders labourer!!
Imported = complete with.
I too have inglenook envy.
