when considering behaviour that these days is seen as un PC? At junior school I was in a play called Seven Sevens are Forty-nine where some schoolchildren were marooned on a desert island, and on exploring they came across some natives repeating the title, being taught by their headmaster. I was one of the four natives, and we were 'blacked up' (which me being blonde was hilarious at the time). We didn't have any black children at our school and if we did, would it have been worse had we given them the role of the native children? Should I feel guilty for taking part in what would these days be seen as racist? Is that any different to the cricketer who was made to apologise for attending a fancy dress party in 2009 blacked up?

Me too Tony, I really hate what is happening in this country.
There's always something we do or say that is now classed as not PC and it drives me mad.

Same here, Barsel.
The most homophobic bile I have ever read on Answerbank was posted by a person on this thread.

And it is still there.
ROY, have you reported the post?
The cricketer was attending a fancy dress party as Tupac Shakur who is black and I cannot see how that is racist. Was Al Jolson racist when he blacked up to sing?
Roy to what are you referring?
I presume most commenting on here about 'the good old days' are white Caucasians who have never endured any form of racism in their cosy little lives. (Apologies to any Irish, who were treated like 'Blacks in the 1950's)
Thankfully things HAVE moved on, and it's no longer acceptable to say certain things or describe people in certain ways. I was watching some programme about TV in the 1970's and was genuinely shocked at what you could get away with in those days.

I'm not the 'woke-st' person in the world, and agree PC is now verging on the ridiculous in some areas, but hey, things were a lot worse for certain sectors of society 50 years ago, and I, for one, am happy it's not acceptable to say you are going to the 'P' shop or going for a 'Chinky'.
Depends who is transgressing with these SJW bullies.
Young white cricket player. Hound him. Try to ruin his life.
Lefty clown destroying Canada. tumbleweed

Pakistani cricketer makes historic racism claims against white team-mates.
Sack-cloth and ashes. Root and branch reforms. (and compo)
Later the very same player found to have sent virulent anti-Semitic
messages.
That's different.
Course its different. One went on for years and nothing was done to stop it. The other was a one off as far as we know when he was a teenager and yes its wrong and weakens he's case but its not the same as ongoing persistant racist bullying
